UNC Neurosurgery at UNC Wayne in Goldsboro, North Carolina is seeking a BE/BC Neurologist to join us at UNC Health.

UNC Neurosurgery at Goldsboro is seeking a board certified/eligible neurologist with EMG training to join their very active practice. Primary duties would be office-based with some consults at Wayne UNC Healthcare. EMG services are needed for both the Neurosurgery and Orthopedic practices.


There is a community-wide need for general neurology services. Well established community referral pattern as well as wide catchment area. In addition, Wayne UNC Health has an active stroke program, allowing these patients to be treated in the community setting.  

The clinic has a board certified neurosurgeon and our providers maintain full medical staff privileges at Wayne UNC Health Care. Our innovative and technologically advanced facility is designed specifically for outpatient and ambulatory surgery. 

Our staff can coordinate care with your family physician, internist, and when appropriate, discuss your care with your cardiologist, pulmonologist and oncologist. We are committed to providing you excellent care. 



Responsibilities for Neurologist

  • Perform physical and neurological examination of patients who are suffering from neurological disorders
  • Order diagnostic tests such as blood tests, spinal fluid tests, and imaging tests such as MRIs
  • Diagnose conditions and disorders based on physical and cognitive exams, and test results
  • Develop treatment plans, and manage and adapt treatment of patients depending on progress
  • Communicate with nurses and other medical staff to ensure patients receive best possible care
  • Maintain current knowledge of trends in area of expertise
  • Communicate treatment plans and home care instructions to patients

Qualifications for Neurologist

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required
  • Must have completed residency training
  • Must have current valid license in the state of practice
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to empathize with others
  • Must possess high level of self-confidence and be able to direct others
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Must have stamina and ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible
