  • Overview

    UNC Healthcare is currently seeking a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner with solid experience in the ICU to join one of our well-established hospitals in the Raleigh area. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast growing system with an excellent culture!


    • Maintains an environment of safety for patients, self, and others.
    • Provide direct patient care under medical direction of the primary supervising physician and/or Medical Director. Provide follow-up care and/or referrals as necessary.
    • Collaborates with Medical Director and other designated physicians in the assessment and ongoing medical care of patients. Establishes an appropriate plan of treatment. Medical records accurately reflect diagnosis, treatment goals, strategies, and patient outcomes.
    • Maintains current knowledge base in clinical care of neonates. Stays abreast of trends and professional issues in neonatology
    • Maintains current knowledge of Rex Healthcare procedures and policies through regular attendance at staff meetings, department meetings, review of email and other communications.
    • Participates in Neonatology Service Line or other committees formed for the purpose of improving the care provided to neonates. Shares knowledge with coworkers by providing education, mentoring to staff nurses and by serving as clinical resource.
    • Utilizes electronical medical record for clinical documentation.
    • Demonstrates good interpersonal skills to ensure positive, effective sensitive, interface with patient families, coworkers, and physicians.
    • Maintains effective, open communication with colleagues. Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with patient families and others. Works cooperatively with management team.
    • Assures patient safety is a priority at all times. Focuses on achievement of relevant patient safey goals such as hand hygiene, SBAR for hand-off communications, and appropriate pain management.



    • Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program approved by the NC Joint Subcommittee of the Board of Nursing and Board of Medical Examiners and "approved to practice medical acts" based on education and experience by the joint subcommittee.


    • Strong Preference for at least 2 years of experience as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.


    • Current license or license in progress for NC as a NNP, BLS, and NRP
